How can I verify the Google Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code setup?

Having followed all the instructions for setting up the tracking snippet on Analytics, now I want to verify the code. I've spent hours trying to do this, Help please

    It generally takes 24 hours for data to appear in your Google Analytics account after you've installed the Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code correctly. After 24 hours follow these steps:
    • See the "Check Status" icon at the top of the Profile Settings page
    • Check your reports
    • Use your WYSIWYG editor correctly
    • Use your browser's "View Page Source" feature
    • Check the source code to see if the tracking snippet appears at the top of your page before the closing tag
