Registering is important to open up a business in New Jersey and the New Jersey's Division of Revenue has made the registering easy through online sources or through the mail. Follow these steps to get your business registered through online resources:

Go to the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Division of Revenue website. Select the type of business and enter your proposed business name

After the business is being selected click review the next page; fill in the boxes for your Federal Employer ID number, Business Purpose, Duration and other required information. Click "Submit" to register for your business certificate.

You may need to provide your online signature to confirm your registration.

Click on the hyperlinked phrase "Business Registration Packet" and read the pages prior to completing those two pages.

Mail the completed registration to the State of New Jersey Division of Revenue’s postal address.
