Australia has Working Holiday Maker arrangements with a number of countries and regions. These arrangements are negotiated bilaterally and are reciprocal in nature in order to provide Australian citizens the same opportunities overseas that are enjoyed by Working Holiday Makers visiting Australia.
The Working Holiday Maker program is a visitor program that encourages cultural exchange by allowing young people (aged 18-30 years) from arrangement countries to have an extended holiday, supplemented by short term work.
In Australia, the Working Holiday Maker program is comprised of the Working Holiday (Subclass 417) visa and the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa. These visas may be termed differently in arrangement countries.
