What are the issues causing error message while linking AdWords and Analytics accounts?

I have followed the right procedure to set up the accounts and to link them. But all in vain. Please help me out with this

There are several reasons why you may be seeing an error message when attempting to link your accounts. these might include: If you're not an Admin, you'll need to request that someone with Admin grant you Admin access. Or If your Analytics account is already linked to a different AdWords account, it will not appear as an option in the Existing Google Analytics Account drop-down list, or you may receive an error message indicating that you have zero accounts to link to.
