This is the most highlighted term in the media these days, "the US embassy cables". Does anyone know that, what are US embassy cables? Can someone tell me?

    Wikileaks is releasing classified United States diplomatic cables sent to and from US embassies in countries throughout the world. These cables include orders sent out from the Department of State, embassy reporting about the local governments and details of US government activities in each country. Actually these are the news and confidential documents released by wikileaks about the different countries of the world. They are sent trough the US embassy cables in those countries.

    You can't define a word with the same word. The question is, "What does the word 'CABLES' mean?" In everyday English usage, a CABLE is a group of wires. Therefore, by context alone, it appears that the U.S. embassy is releasing bundles of copper wires.


    In the case of Wikileaks, it appears that "Cables" means "communications."
