   A constitutional referendum held to decide whether to abolish term limits for the offices of President of Venezuela, as well as state governors, mayors, and National Assembly deputies, was held on 15 February 2009. The 1999 Constitution previously established a three-term limit for deputies and a two-term limit for the other offices. The referendum sought to amend articles 160, 162, 174, 192 and 230 of the Constitution. The proposed amendment was endorsed by 54% of the electorate in a vote in which approximately 70% of registered voters participated.
