    Keurig machines have an "auto-on" feature that you can set to turn on/off at a specific time each day, so that the machine is ready to brew right when you're ready to enjoy a cup of coffee.  The initial heating takes around 3 minutes to complete (versus only 30 seconds between cups when it's already been on), so it's really all about convenience.
