   Cancer experts say that control of the disease in Australia is at risk of going backwards unless the Federal Government maintains and expands its successful bowel cancer screening program.
   Cancer Council Australia is using the World Cancer Day activities to highlight the disruption to the screening program. The disease can be treated successfully if detected in its early stages, but currently fewer than 40 per cent of bowel cancers are detected before time.
