A navy boat carrying a group of 145 asylum seekers has docked at Broome in Western Australia's North West. The asylum seekers at Broome are due to be flown to the Curtin detention centre near Derby in the later hours today.
A total of 200 suspected asylum seekers are being transferred to the mainland because of unrest on Christmas Island. The Government is still committed to offshore processing as the asylum seekers arriving on the mainland will still be processed through the slower offshore regulations.
