    Hi,
Gold is as soft as lead, but melts much higher, over 1000 degrees. However, it can be soldered because copper water pipe is soldered all the time. Copper, Silver and Gold are all very similar chemically. A butane torch is used with plumbing because of the amount of metal involved, but jewelry is small, and a soldering iron might work here. There are many kinds of solder. Silver solder is probably the best to use because it is harder than tin/lead solders. Avoid cadmium solders because cadmium is toxic. Remember to apply flux to the work before soldering it.
