m2700hd not use'in full screen in 1080p

I have a ati 5850 hook up to the montior vivia the hdmi cable that came with the lcd but seems when i run it in 1920 by 1080 i end up with about an inch of black boarder. so is a box in a box.

but if i run it in 1680 by 1050 it fulls the full screen? some help plz
