   Hi,
   ONE: First, do a hard reset.  This is done by unplugging the power cord for 4 hours or more.  Then try it again.
   
   TWO: If the reset does not cure it the problem is NOT software related and is likely a serious electrical problem.  The shutting down process is caused by the protection circuit detecting a shorted condition somewhere, anywhere, in the set.
   
   THREE:  The cost of repair depends on where the problem is and what it takes to fix it.  Most common with these problems is failure of the high voltage system or the deflection systems, either horizontal or vertical or both.  The repair costs for these kinds of repairs are usually around $100 to $150.
   
   FOUR:  A set of this size that is over 3 years of age is NOT a candidate for any serious repairs expenses. Therefore, I suggest you purchase a new one - - - - unless you are an electronics technician and have a voltmeter and/or scope and know how to take measurements of basic components in the set.  If you want to tackle it, try this site for some basic guidance:
