The celebration occurs on November 2 in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2).

The "Day of the Dead"  is celeberated in many tradition very warmly. In catholic tradition, it is celeberated on November 2 in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2).

According to the believers that these are the days, when the souls of the dead persons return to join their love ones in the land of the living. It is a jubilant time, without tearing which can make the return pathway slippery. Skeletons, skulls and red devils are depicted happily cavorting. Even the holiday foods, the sugar candies and the breads, are molded to look like "La Calavera"—the skeleton of death.
