    Hi,
    From the research I was able to do on that serial number for Buffet, your clarinet was made in the beginning of the second half of 1887.  As far as I know there was no plastic in existence at that point in history.

    These clarinets are normally not worth a huge amount of money.  The main problem is that they aren't tuned exactly the way instruments are tuned today.  You can pull it out and enjoy it at parties.  But, I wouldn't expect it to oay for your retirement.
