I am writing details of some celebrations for a website. I have little idea about Indian Holi celebration. Anyone please tell me when was the first celebration of Holi.

    Holli is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as 'Holika'.,  It is observed in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and many other palaces. A 16th century panel sculpted in a temple at Hampi, capital of Vijayanagar, shows a joyous scene of Holi. The painting depicts a Prince and his Princess standing amidst maids waiting with syringes to drench the Royal couple in colored water.
