Question:

why no signal on my vtech 9118 cordless phone, the "in use" light is flashing.

it is plugged into a working outlet and phone line that have both been tested. the battery is new and connected properly. it just beeps when "phone" button is pushed, but gets no signal. and then when placed on base the "in use/ charge" light flashes repeatedly.

Same problem on my IA5879.  The VTech website offers the following "solution":

but this did not work for me.  Battery is believed to be OK but handset refuses to charge and charge light flashes rapidly.  Resets of base/handset do not solve the problem.  Awaiting a response from VTech support.
