Can I bleach my hair if I still have semi-permanent red dye in it?

In other words, if I do bleach my hair while it's still red, will the bleach work in making my hair yellow/white? My hair is still a very bright red from the semi-permanent dye, but I want to go ahead and bleach it instead of waiting for all the red to come out. Will this work? Thank you!
