With Michael Owen currently ignored by England manager Fabio Capello, Jermain Defoe is next on the Italian's list to mistreat by benching the in-form striker, opting for Emile Heskey against Croatia instead.

    The England international team is all about balance, as is all teams who play at a high level, and if Capello feels Heskey/Rooney offer the best balance, then Defoe has to start on the bench for now.
