Some people have a slow developing form of multiple myeloma that takes some years to cause some of the symptoms. The treatment starts when the disease becomes worse or causes other symptoms. They must remain cautious during the X-ray tests that use contrast dye. The focus of the treatment for multiple myeloma is more focused on the disease containment and suppression. If the disease in completely asymptomatic then treatment might be deferred. In addition to direct treatment of the plasma  cell proliferation, bisphosphonates are some of the routinely administered to prevent the fractures.
