There is TRD Toyota Tundra that was manufactured in the year 2008 and Ford SVT Lightning and Dodge Ram had to watch for it. The much improved specification were an alarm for it competitors. As it took almost 4.4 seconds from 0-60mph in TRD Tundra, and if you compare it with Mustang GT, it clocks almost 5.1 seconds. Dodge Challenger was able to clock the time of 4.6 seconds, Audi S5 coupe (4.5), or BMW 135i (4.6), in the comparison it matched the 2006 Porsche Carrera S timings.

Now how Tundra was able to deliver this kind of performance? The stock 5.7L Tundra regular cab SR5 pickup is fitted with accessories from the TRD catalog. Only a couple of bolt-on parts transform the already hefty Toyota 5.7L V-8 engine into a screaming banshee.

The Twin Vortices supercharger and cat-back dual exhaust system are the main parts of the upgrades allowing the air and power to flow at the rate of 504 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. The whir of the supercharger is similar of the old Lightning's, but the kick feels more subtles and consistent. Power is on tap immediately without any delay and slam-bang delivery. But after a couple of hard launches, it's almost impossible to avoid exorcizing the tire tread instead. On the freeway, passing involves little more than a brush of the accelerator for precision lane changes usually reserved for sports cars. Street truck aerodynamics aren't condusive to high-speeds in order to compare with 0-to-100 mph times to those of the Porsche Caymen and old S/C Yenko Camaro.

The base price of Toyota Tundra is $24,380, but after the addition of TRD modifications it becomes $45,656.
