MARRIAGE TO A MUSLIM MAN TO A SEPARATED NON MUSLIM WOMAN-IS IT POSSIBLE?

hi how r u? im dropin by to see someone who cud answer my question. here it goes... im a christian and was married to a christian too but we are separated for 9 years now...now, i met my boyfriend who is married but also not seeing his wife for a long time like foe 4 years, he is a newly islam convert and we want to get married. i know for him as an islam it will be no to much problem. but how about me? can i marry him wwithout any legal obligation from my ex husband. since we are going to get married in islam. please brother, i hope u could help me on this. for we plan to get married as soon as possible.thank u so much. i will wait for your reply in sha Allah...

Your issue is not that big as you have stated you haven't heard from your ex-husband in 9 years that means he won't make any legal obligation about your marriage. As far as your boyfriend is concerned being a MUSLIM isn't a problem. Because in islam a muslim man can marry a non-muslim (christian especially) woman but a muslim woman cannot marry a non-muslim man the reason for that is that males are more dominant and can preach their children the religion they want them to follow whereas a woman cannot (I don't mean to offend women) cannot do the same. Therefore you won't face any problems regarding your marriage. GOODLUCK
