    Qamar David was a Catholic condemned to life in Karachi prison for blasphemy by sending text messages against the prophet of Islam.
   
   Last night it was reported that Qamar David was found dead in prison. This incident is an appalling indictment of the treatment of prisoners in Pakistan and in particular those of a Christian persuasion. Conflicting versions of his death by jail officials has raised doubts among the masses.
   
   The initial assessments by the doctors suggest that he dies of a heart attack, but the investigators cautioned that the histopathology reports would take up to four days. The Catholic Church is “calling for clarity” and “wants an official report of the facts, which indicate heart failure as the cause of death”.
