Why are Dalmations born without spots?

   They do have spots, but only on the skin, you can see it when their born and still wet, when the fur dries the spots are invisible until the coat starts to color out.....................its not just Dalmatians, it happens with roan dogs too e.g cockers and pointers, they are born with patches of solid color and will gradually roan out.
