How to avoid being directed to a search engine when you enter a valid URL?

Whenever I enter an URL which is valid, I am being directed to the search engine. Can anyone help me as I have been facing this problem for some days now and am unable to resolve it.

    Delete the entire ‘Temp’ folder on your computer; delete both the system temp folder and the Internet temp folders.
