Yes, Lung cancer  can go into remission.

It  is a disease consisting uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth may result to metastasis, which is the attack of adjacent tissue and infiltration beyond the lungs. The most common types of lung cancers are caused by carcinomas which is derived from epithelial cells. According to statistics collected in 2004 show that about more than 1.3 million deaths were caused by lung cancer in both men and women every year. The symptoms of lungs cancer are shortness of breath, coughing (including coughing up blood), and weight loss.

Treatment for lung cancer depends on condition of the patient and the specific cell types of cancer. For that physicians and surgeon need to know that the performance status of the patient, and how far it has spread. Most common treatments are surgery, palliative care, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

If it is confirmed by investigation, CT scan and often positron emission tomography (PET) are used to investigate whether the disease is localized and amenable to surgery or whether it has spread to the critical level where it cannot be treated surgically.

To find whether the patient is in stable position to be operated, doctors advise Blood tests and spirometry (lung function testing). If spirometry test finds poor respiratory reserve (often because of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) then surgery may be advised by the doctors. Without these test doctors cannot identify the disease.
