Nadal toughed it out to overcome Frenchman Gael Monfils. How far can the Spaniard go in this year’s US Open?

    With Andy Murray out of the US Open, Nadal's chances of reaching the final of the tournament have improved. He'll need to overcome 11th seed Fernando Gonzalez in the quarterfinals first, and then faces a potential semi-final against 6th seed Juan Martin de Potro. Assuming he reaches the final, and Roger Federer does likewise, on current form Federer would have to be rated as the better chance, leaving Nadal as the likely runner-up.
