There is a smell of rotten eggs in my bedroom.  The house is a 1 1/2 storey type with the bedrooms in the upper part.  There is not a bathroom in the upper level of the house, but there is one on the main level, but it's not below the bedroom where the smell is coming from and the kitchen is below the bedroom that the smell is coming from and below that is the furnace room and a bathroom.  Could the stacks in the roof be blocked?  Who best should look at this problem, a plumber?

It could be the roof vents, or could be a blocked air vent for a washer or dishwasher (called a vaccuum break). It could also be the result of a leak (combined with incomplete combustion) from your furnace or it's vent pipe (flue). I would first look at that, as the rotten egg smell that you describe is Hydrogen Sulfide, and could indicate a fire or health hazard. Your local fire department MAY offer courtesy inspections - check there first. Hydrogen Sulfide not only smells awful, it can explode.
