    Hi,
The first time I ever fell off was going over a jump.
It was going to be my first pony ever. I was 6.
I lost all my confidence! It was terrible. I nearly gave up riding!
My mum arranged a lesson for me with a jumping instructor.
In the lesson I warmed up as usual and did trot poles.
The instructor put the jumps up, very low and i went over a few times.
She told me to concentrate on my technique, not to worry about what could happen
I jumped every jump a couple of times, and the instructor just kept on putting them up, a few centimetres at a time.
I had regular lessons with her, doing the same thing, and the more I jumped and rode, the more confidence I gained!
Try to enjoy the feeling of having fun with your horse, Before the jump, look forward to the feeling of flying over the fence, don't dread it!
Jumping 3 ft is great, but it's not how high you jump, its the way you handle the obstacle.
I'd rather see someone moving gracefully through some low fences, than hurtling over high ones, with no style whatsoever.

You ride because you love it, don't you?
You need to THINK positively! Tell yourself you want to go riding, and you want to do some jumps!

The first jump is always the hardest. The more you do, the easier it becomes.

I used to have to say out loud:
"Wow boy, that jump is TINY. We're actually going to soar over it!"

I felt silly, but it worked. :)

Now I can jump confidently at home or in competition. :) I hope this works for you.
