The entire world thinks it’s the OPEC who controls the world market but how can they when they only produce 37 percent of the market.  The world oil market actually is controlled by Non-OPEC producers who have 63 percent of the world wide oil market.

In Pakistan the market is not controlled instead it should be reflected according to the shift in the global market but that is not the case.  When the market is not efficient it allows some people in position to benefit and some time the personal benefits out do the national interest.  Our memories are short but not long ago the price of oil was about a quarter of what it is today. But soon after the war in Aghanistan and Iraq the price of oil began to escalate.

We all know war also contributes to the escalation of fuel cost in indirect ways; for example, by plunging Pakistan ever deeper into debt and depreciating the rupess but as oil is priced mainly in US dollars, up and down reflects the direction of the US dollar.

Since pakistan does not have any visible public plans that can be utilized to get out of the economic mess, the dependence on the world movement will not be let go.  We also know Oil markets in Pakistan are being influenced by factors other than the demand-supply fundamentals.

Proper answer to who controls the oil market in pakistan is best left to someone with a higher intellect.
