I read this article about thaipusam that is banned in India. I am very curious to know that who celebrate thaipusam and why India banned it.

    Thaipusam is a Hindu  festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai in the month of January/February. It is officially banned in India because it seems that it has lost its meaning as a religious rite in its extreme form of display of penance and astonishing feats of masochism.
